Terms of Service for Keys Music

Last updated: 16 October 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Keys Music AS (“Keys Music”, “we”, “us”) for the use of our website keys-music.com, the Keys account at account.keys-music.com, our apps, such as Keys Tuner, and our invite programme (together, the “Services”). By using the Services or creating a Keys account you accept these terms. Please read them, and our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your personal data.

Keys Create, our upcoming music-making app, is not released yet. It will come with its own terms covering the music you make, share and publish with it.

1. Who we are

Keys Music AS
Ysterud 23
1870 Ørje
Norway
Business registration number: 938 290 482

Contact: hello@keys-music.com

2. Who can use the Services

You must be at least 13 years old to create a Keys account. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must have read and agreed to these terms on your behalf. By using the Services you confirm that you can enter into this agreement under the laws that apply to you.

3. Your account

One Keys account works across the website and all Keys apps. You can create it with an email address and password, or sign in with Google, Apple or Facebook. When you use the Services with an account:

  • keep your sign-in details to yourself and tell us at once if you think someone else has used your account;
  • give us accurate information and keep your contact email up to date — we use it for everything that concerns your account;
  • create one account for yourself and use it personally; accounts cannot be sold, lent or transferred;
  • verify your email address — some features, such as inviting friends, require a verified account.

You are responsible for what happens through your account. You can delete it at any time in the app or at account.keys-music.com; the Privacy Policy explains what is removed.

4. Your licence to use the apps

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to install and use the Keys apps on devices you own or control, in line with the rules of the app store you got them from. The apps, the website and everything in them stay our property or that of our licensors. You may not:

  • copy, modify, sell, rent, sublicense or redistribute the apps or any part of them;
  • reverse engineer, decompile or try to extract the source code, sounds, models or data in them, except where the law expressly allows it;
  • get around any technical limits, security measures or access controls, or interfere with how the Services work;
  • use automated tools to access, scrape or load the Services, or use them to build a competing product.

5. The tuner and other music tools

Our tools are made to help you practise and learn. Pitch detection depends on your device, its microphone, your instrument and the sound around you, so we cannot promise that a reading is exact in every situation. The tools are not a substitute for a professional instrument set-up, and you use them at your own judgement. Take care of your hearing when playing along with any sound the apps produce.

6. Free and paid features

The Keys apps are free today. We may introduce advertising, paid features and premium plans in the future. Before you buy anything we will show you the price, what you get and how long it lasts. Purchases made through the Apple App Store or Google Play are handled by them under their terms, including renewals, cancellations and refunds. Your rights as a consumer under Norwegian and EU law are not affected by anything in these terms.

7. Earn Premium — the invite programme

With a verified Keys account you can invite friends by email. When a friend creates a Keys account with the address you invited and verifies it, you earn one month of Keys Create Premium. Invites stack: every friend who signs up and verifies earns you another month. The rules:

  • invite only people you know and who would welcome it — by entering an address you confirm that you may contact that person;
  • no inviting yourself, no accounts created only to earn credit, no bought or scraped address lists, and no spamming; we limit the number of invites you can send per day;
  • earned months have no cash value, cannot be transferred, exchanged or paid out, and are personal to your account;
  • earned months are redeemed in the Keys Create app once it launches and apply to the premium plan available at that time;
  • we may check how credits were earned and withhold or cancel credits that were earned in breach of these rules, and suspend the accounts involved;
  • earned months expire: redeem them within 12 months of Keys Create’s launch or, for months earned after launch, within 12 months of earning them. We may change or end the programme for new invites at any time; months already earned keep their expiry date.

8. Your content

Your profile — your name, username, colour and picture — is yours. By adding it you give us permission to store it and show it as part of the Services, including to other Keys users where a feature calls for it. Choose a name and picture you have the right to use: nothing that impersonates anyone, shows another person without their consent, or is sexual, hateful, violent or otherwise offensive. We may remove a name or picture that breaks these rules or the law, and close the account of anyone who keeps doing it.

Usernames use lowercase letters, numbers, periods and underscores only, so they work in links everywhere; letters such as æ, ø and å become their closest Latin letters. A username is not property: we may change one that is offensive, impersonates someone, infringes a trademark or is held only to be traded or sold, and we will tell you when we do. A username you give up is kept aside for a while before anyone else can take it.

9. Acceptable use

When using the Services you may not:

  • break any law, or infringe anyone’s rights;
  • harass, threaten or deceive other people, or pretend to be someone you are not;
  • attack, probe or overload our systems, or try to access accounts or data that are not yours;
  • use our invite emails or any other part of the Services to send spam or unwanted messages.

10. Our content and trademarks

The Services — software, design, graphics, sounds, text and learning material — are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws and belong to Keys Music or our licensors. Keys, Keys Music, Keys Tuner and Keys Create are our names and marks. Apart from the licence in section 4, these terms give you no rights to them.

11. Third-party services

Signing in with Google, Apple or Facebook, and downloading our apps from the App Store or Google Play, means you also use those companies’ services under their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for them.

12. Changes to the Services

We are building Keys Music step by step. We may add, change, pause or remove features, apps or parts of the Services at any time, including features that are offered as previews or betas. We try to keep the Services available but cannot promise that they will always be online or free of errors.

13. Ending the agreement

You can stop using the Services at any time, and delete your account whenever you want. We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms, if the law requires it, or if we discontinue a Service, and we will give you reasonable notice where we can. When the agreement ends, your licence to use the apps ends, and your data is handled as described in the Privacy Policy. Sections 10, 14 and 16 continue to apply.

14. Disclaimers and liability

The Services are provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we make no promises that they are accurate, fit for a particular purpose or free of interruptions and errors.

To the extent the law allows, Keys Music is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits or lost data, and our total liability to you for all claims under these terms is limited to the greater of the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim and NOK 500. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for gross negligence or wilful misconduct, for death or personal injury, or any liability that cannot be limited by law. If you are a consumer, your mandatory rights under Norwegian law and the law of the country where you live are not affected.

15. App store terms

If you got a Keys app from the Apple App Store, these additional terms apply, as required by Apple:

  • These terms are between you and Keys Music only, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.
  • Your licence covers use of the app on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the App Store Terms of Service, including through Family Sharing.
  • Keys Music, not Apple, is responsible for maintaining and supporting the app. Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support.
  • If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any) to you. To the extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app; any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses attributable to a failure to conform to a warranty are Keys Music’s responsibility.
  • Keys Music, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims by you or a third party relating to the app or your use of it, including product liability claims, claims that the app fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection, privacy or similar laws.
  • If a third party claims that the app infringes its intellectual property rights, Keys Music, not Apple, is responsible for investigating, defending, settling and discharging that claim.
  • You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  • You must comply with any third-party terms that apply when using the app, for example your mobile data agreement.
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.

If you got a Keys app from Google Play, the Google Play Terms of Service also apply to your download and use of it.

16. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by Norwegian law. Disputes are settled by the Norwegian courts, with Oslo District Court as the agreed venue; if you are a consumer you may also bring a claim before the courts of the country where you live, and you may contact the Norwegian Consumer Authority (Forbrukertilsynet) for help with a complaint. We would always rather hear from you first: write to hello@keys-music.com and we will try to sort it out.

17. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the Services develop. The current version, with its date, is always available at keys-music.com/terms. For changes that affect you materially we will give account holders notice in the apps or by email, normally at least 30 days before the change takes effect. If you do not accept a change, stop using the Services and delete your account; continuing to use them after the change takes effect means you accept the new terms.
